The SS Badger
A Ludington Icon
If you have ever been to Ludington, Michigan, you know about the SS Badger. It is one of the icons of this Lake Michigan town.
The SS Badger “steams” out of Ludington each day from mid May until mid October. Yes, steams. The Badger uses steam to power the vessel. You step into the bygone era of steam transportation when you ride the Badger.
The Badger carries passengers, automobiles, campers, trucks and freight between Ludington and Manitowac, Wisconsin. It is a wonderful way to get to Wisconsin from Michigan without having to go through Chicago’s traffic. It is a short cut chosen by many happy Badger travelers.
Here is a link that will give you the history of this wonderful ship.
